Who are we?
Watkins Brass is an initiative of the Reading Spring Gardens Brass Band formed in memory of the legendary trumpet player and former member Derek Watkins. Derek was perhaps best known for having performed on every James Bond film soundtrack, playing for the first of these, Dr. No (1962), at the age of 17 through to Skyfall (2012) which he recorded while fighting his battle with cancer which he sadly lost on the 22 March 2013 aged 68.
Watkins Brass aims to inspire a new generation of brass musicians and welcomes all children in full time education currently learning or wishing to learn to play a brass band instrument.
Our Safeguarding Policy
Watkins Brass is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and its young people. Watkins Brass and the wider organisation of The Reading Spring Gardens Brass Band expects all members and participants in its activities to share in this commitment and to adhere to the provisions of its Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.
